Here in AV Science Olympiad, we have officers, captains, and regular team members. Captains each manage 2-3 events of a certain event category. In addition to being captains, officers also manage the administration of the whole club. All team members, captains, and officers compete!
Due to high student interest, we have multiple teams that represent Amador! Each team consists of 15 students each, and every year, we have 2-3 teams (a total of 30-45 team members).

Meet Our Team
Brandon Huynh - Co-President, Environmental Studies Captain
Hey all! This will be my fourth and final year competing in Amador’s Science Olympiad team. I am incredibly proud of how the team performed last season and I will work to ensure that we achieve just as much and make more memories along the way. My favorite part of Scioly is the sense of reward you get not only because of your own score or placement but also because of the accomplishments of those around you. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and good luck in the coming season. |
Brayden Ye - Co-President, Health & Medical Captain
I am Brayden Ye and I am a senior at Amador. I will be leading the Anatomy & Physiology and Microbe Mission events. Outside of SciOly, I am an avid band member and I greatly enjoy adventure, especially outdoors. My favorite aspects of SciOly are all the team bonding and being able to compete alongside teammates who share similar passions in science. The late night build sessions, running through the worst monsoons of California, elementary school style field days, and everything in between with the team are the reasons why I love Science Olympiad at Amador. |
Phylicia Wang - VP of Finance, Deductive Inquiry Captain
Hey everyone! I'm a senior and this is my fourth year with SciOly :) My favorite parts of the club are working with people and learning new things together. Some of my hobbies include practicing cello, bullet journaling, watching K-dramas, and trying new foods. And if I had to say my fourth deepest darkest secret (no way?!?!), it's that I have perfect pitch. Anyways, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and having a fantastic season! |
Clara Yin - VP of Operations, Design Inquiry Captain
Hello! I'm Clara, and this is my third year in Science Olympiad. One of my favorite parts of this club is being able to collaborate with new people in a supportive community. My fondest memories include singing in the car on the way to invitationals and competing with some of my best friends. Outside of Science Olympiad, I play flute in marching band and am a member of GirlsWhoCode and UAVs. I also enjoy drawing, reading, and listening to music (Taylor Swift, TXT, Seventeen, Keshi, Gracie Abrams...). I look forward to having an amazing season! :) |
Sunny Moon - VP of Engineering, Build Captain
Hi Everyone! My name is Sunny, and this will be my third year in Scioly. My favorite parts of Scioly include finally getting the build devices to work after all the hard work and, of course, getting to know the people in this amazing community! Outside of Scioly, I can be seen holding a million things (per orchestra superlatives) and exploring the beauty of nature. Looking forward to an adventurous year! |
Lillian Zhong - Physics Captain
I'm a senior this year, and this is my third year in SciOly. Some of my favorite parts of SciOly are working with my teammates to solve challenges and learning new things in a variety of topics. Outside of school, I enjoy reading and listening to music. I'm excited to work with all of you, and I look forward to a great season! |
Ishan Joshi - Miscellaneous Biology Captain
Hello, my name is Ishan, and this is my 2nd year with Science Olympiad. I will be serving as the captain for Ecology and Disease Detectives. I am very interested in aspects of environmental engineering, combined with other fields such as physics and materials science (a rather unusual combination!). An environmental issue that I am very passionate about is bioremediation, particularly mycorrhizoremediation (the remediation of pollutants using plants and fungi together; I conducted research on this). I am currently conducting research on how to implement this method of bioremediation into automated bioelectrochemical systems to generate electricity! I am looking forward to a great year next year, and may the Lorax be with us! |
Fengyi Ruan - Earth & Space Science Captain
Hi, this is Fengyi! I promise you guys are going to love spinning like tops in grass fields (kinda like a cult). Don’t be fooled- the process of spinning in place is actually super scientific and true understanding will greatly enhance your understanding of physics, chemistry, and biology. My 4th deepest darkest secret is that I lied when told to proclaim my 3rd deepest darkest secret. |
Kathryn Go - Chemistry Captain
Hi, guys! My name is Kathryn Go, and I'm a senior. This is my third year in scioly, and my favorite part of it (just being honest) is the amount of food we get :D Anyway though, I love in-person competitions because traveling can be super fun as you get to meet geniuses from other schools and spend a whole day with your scioly friends! Chem events also often have labs, making it even more exciting! I can't wait for another amazing year with everyone! |
Raghav Sreekumar - Earth Science Captain
Hi! I’m Raghav, and I’m a junior at Amador entering my third year with Science Olympiad. I am really excited to teach the events Fossils and Geologic Mapping in an exciting and comprehensive manner. My favorite memories of SciOly include medaling in BARSO, creating lasting friendships with teammates, and passionately competing in Capture the Flag, a part of the SciOlympics. Outside of SciOly, I love to read, play badminton, and bask in the sun. I’m looking forward to a great season with you all! |
Gaurav Gupta - Electrical Engineering Captain
Hi! My name is Gaurav, and this year will be my second year in Science Olympiad. My favorite part of the club is participating in tournaments and testing my builds. Outside of Science Olympiad, I enjoy playing chess, studying math, and playing Science Bowl rounds. I have had a lot of fun in Science Olympiad as I got to explore more science and gain substantial hands-on building experience. I hope Science Olympiad is filled with dedicated members next year and encourage everyone to try out, regardless of their background in science! |
Ritwik Aeka - Build Captain
Hi! I'm Ritwik, this is my second year with the club, and I'm a sophomore. My favorite part of Science Olympiad is the competition as it is very fun to compete against other schools, and also the friendship as I have made a lot of friends through it. Other than Science Olympiad, I also do Science Bowl and Mock Trial and play flute. JOIN SCIOLY! |
